was Python your 1st or 2nd language?

One more quick note.
For as long as I have been writing code, no matter which language I was using, there was always something that I was unable to do unless I used another language. As stated above, I haven't used python for embedded software yet, but that's only because I haven't done any lately, seeing all that is being done with Arduino and Raspberry Pi, I have no doubt that python would work.
The point is, I haven't run into any situation where I have had to use anything but Python. 50 years of writing code this year!

In my book, that makes it one of the greatest languages ever produced!

yes, Python can work, and work fine, in embedded systems. BTDT (a cable-TV set top box running Linux on an ARM CPU). i also dabbled with it on MIPS and PPC. i plan to do S/390 next (as soon as i get Hercules running).

pretty much the same here. i have had a few programs where i needed the speed Python could not give me, so i ended up doing them in C or Pike. but i tested out designs and modeled them in Python first. the only potential projects i can think of where Python can't help are device drivers and kernel modules and none of those have been on my plate for a few years.
Tradition is peer pressure from dead people

What do you call someone who speaks three languages? Trilingual. Two languages? Bilingual. One language? American.
