I got into Python 6-7 years ago or so as a teen; I wanted to learn how to program, and it was the first real language I tried that made sense to me. I encountered this forum as I was searching for forum software written in Python, and really felt at home in the community. I stayed pretty active until the first migration, around which time I think I started spending more time on StackOverflow instead. Fast forward to today, and I'm doing professional Python web development full-time. I don't really feel like an old-timer here, remembering all the old-timers from the first forum, but I guess these days I count. I tried to get back into StackOverflow, but it really isn't what it used to be, and I really love the small forum format where you don't get power and recognition just for having a high rep count for answering that one question that everyone asks at some point or another.
